It's been a while since I've posted any art here on this blog so I thought I'd share some recent creations that I've been uploading to a new YouTube channel.
If you like psychedelic art or any kind of art with a colorful trippy vibe to it you might find my channel interesting. I'll try to post new art there on a regular basis so if you like watching along to these art timelapse videos then why subscribe to the channel to stay up to date with new art as I upload.
Most of the art of the channel is created with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils which is a combination I really enjoy as it allows me to create detailed, colorful art without all the mess and space requirements of acrylic or oil paint.
The first drawing is a psychedelic octopus. This took about 10 hours to draw in total. I really enjoyed the organic free flowing style in this one and the trippy color combination were a lot of fun to render too. I also experimented with using the Copic various ink refill bottles for an abstract drip art background.
Next is a small trippy drawing of some magic mushrooms that turned out really well with some vibrant psychedelic color combinations. This took longer to draw than I expected as it was quite detailed in parts. It was a rewarding experience though as it allowed me to test some new paper I had recently purchased. I'm not too fussed about paper and tend to use the cheapest I can find that blend Copic markers well enough. However this new paper, produced by .Too, the same company which makes Copic markers, has made me rethink my stance on paper as it was so nice to draw on ! Perhaps I'll save this more expensive paper for particularly special projects.
Finally I'd like to share this psychedelic Homer Simpson fan art drawing I did. This was my first attempt at drawing anything in a cartoon style. What do you think ? I started this off by doing a freehand sketch of a drooling Homer then added various surreal elements over the top. After transferring the initial sketch I then did the lineart with some copic multiliners and then colored. I really dig this drawing so I plan to do some more trippy cartoon style art in the future.

Today I'd like to present a mix of psychedelic dub (psydub) tunes that have been showing me some lockdown love these past few months. Most of these tracks were released over the past year or two. All these songs are brilliant in the own way however I would like to highlight a few particularly special numbers.
First the mix kicks off with a track from UK based artist Spatialize. The UK has a fine history of psychedelic dub artists ( well, all dub genres really ) all the way back to the early days of Twisted Records and Liquid Sound Design. Spatialize is continuing the trend with his deep bass driven mystical journeys. Check out his brilliant album "Beyond The Radar" for plenty of fine chillosophy. One of my favorite tracks of his is the remix he did of Ooze's track "Quintessence". What happened to Ooze ? Last I heard he was teaching some kind of music mentoring program. It's a real shame he never followed up that classic "Where The Fields Never End" release with another Ooze album.
We also have another Geoglyph psydub track this time. And why not ? He is certainly one the essential up and coming artist to be following these days. This time out he remixes "Curled Up Dimensions" by Key-G. You can get a real sense of what a fine musician he is from this remix. Perfectly placed rippling squelches, dub stab chords and that amazing vocal rise will transport you into an another time and space.
One last track to mention is the Kuba remix of Youth and Gaudi's track "Empress Of The Tarot" from the Youth/Gaudi collaboration "Astronaut Alchemists Remixes". A superb album featuring remixes from the likes of Kaya Project, Banco de Gaia, Pitch Black and The Orb to name but just a few. There are 15 or more or tracks on offer. The Double CD sold out in no time but you can still get the digital release through the Liquid Sound Design bandcamp site. A limited edition 12" vinyl EP of some selected remixes is also on offer now so don't miss out if vinyl is your thing.

Well, well, well. How are you ? It's been a while. Too long in fact. But that's life I guess - no matter how honest your intentions, life has a way of making other plans. That's not to say that's something to bemoan. It just points to the fact that life is, on the whole, ever changing and unpredictable. What is predictable however is that the music contained in this episode of the PsyAmb podcast is pure psychedelic bliss. So kick back and take a ride with some of the best tunes to be tickling my eardrums over the past few years.
Some highlights in this mix include a few tracks and remixes from Desert Dwellers from their amazing album Breath. Be sure to check it out if haven't yet done so. There is an awesome track from the super talented The Flying Mars, surely one of the most underrated artists out there. He gets better and better with each release. His latest release, Cosmochemistry is full of psychedelic treats. Finally, from the mighty pairing of Globular and Geoglyph we have a track from their brilliant album Messages From The Resonator. The album features cover art from myself ! The process of designing the art for the album was a real joy and something I will talk more about in a future post. I hope you enjoy this latest offering.
