Hello everyone. This week's mix takes a bath in some spacey ambient vibes. I've included some up to date releases as well as one or two classics such as Spacedrifters 'Eb' of TipWorld's "Twelve" compilation from 2001. Wow - that long ago already ! Despite being mostly known for their pioneering dance floor tunes, TipWorld and label head Raja Ram put out some brilliant ambient tunes back around then.
Today's highlighted artist is the Ukraine's Denis Botsvin, a.k.a Harax whose 2008 release titled 'Inly' made an immediate impression on me from the first listen. I would describe it as very melodic without getting too cheesy, nice use of full lush pads, subtle bass and emotive rendering. Think Ultimae records with a bit of a fresh twist. Released on the Australian Up Records label, I definitely recommend picking up a copy for yourself.
Check out this video of Harax at Skygravity. Skygravity is a Ukranian electronic music festival that has been gaining in popularity over the last few years. Never been there myself but it looks very nice. As psytrance and psychedelic ambient music continues to boom in the Baltic expect parties like this one to gain momentum and brilliant artists like Harax to filter to the surface.

ReplyDeleteHmmm, strange - seems to work okay for me. If anyone has any problems please let me know.
ReplyDeleteThe direct download doesn't appear to be working for me either.
ReplyDeleteAre you right clicking on the little black 'play' button ?
ReplyDeleteYep... And when I open it rather than hitting "save link as..." it takes me to a page that says:
ReplyDelete"Oops, looks like we can't find that page!
* Did you try to access a private track, but were not logged in? Log In or Sign Up
* Maybe the track or user has been removed"
Perhaps it's incorrectly labeled a "private track?"
Ahh , it appears I didn't click the 'make original downloadable' box on SoundCloud. Could you try again and let me know if it works. Sorry for the hassle guys.
ReplyDeleteWorking great now! Thanks!
ReplyDeletenice!.. very chill, sci-fi feeling. What kind of synth do you use, or for that matter instruments in general?
